Plywood Mills Gain Flexibility In Formaldehyde Testing

On October 22, EPA issued a final rule updating six standards for testing hardwood plywood, MDF, and particleboard for compliance with U.S. formaldehyde regulations, which will take effect 30 days after publication. The rule now allows an optional small-chamber testing method, giving manufacturers more flexibility. The agency expects no additional compliance costs as the updated standards are substantially similar to those they replace.
